Submission Regulations & Participation Guidelines


1. General Information


SHFF 2026 – Santiago Horror Film Festival, International Fantastic Film Festival organized by Fundación Chile Fantástico, invites filmmakers from around the world to submit their works to the following National and International Competition categories:


  • Feature Films

  • Short Films

  • Animation

  • Music Videos

  • Student Short Films

Mandatory requirement for participation


All films must include Spanish subtitles embedded in the screening copy, preserving the original language and ensuring proper readability and timing. Alternatively, subtitles may be delivered as a synchronized .SRT file, with a maximum of 45 characters per line and up to two lines per dialogue.


Submissions delivered in formats not specified above may be subject to disqualification.


Premiere Status

Priority will be given to films that have not been previously screened in Chile prior to the festival dates. This applies to both national and international productions (Music Videos excluded).

All entries must be submitted by the rights holder or authorized representative through:

2. Eligibility Requirements


To be considered for selection, films must meet the following premiere date criteria:

  • Feature Films & Short Films: premiered on or after January 1, 2025

  • Music Videos: premiered on or after January 1, 2024

  • Animated Short Films: premiered on or after January 1, 2024

  • Student Short Films: premiered on or after January 1, 2025


Films that have been publicly released or made available on social media, YouTube, or any commercial or public digital platform will not be eligible.


Entrants must ensure they hold all necessary rights for any copyrighted material included in the work. The festival assumes no responsibility for unauthorized use of copyrighted content.

 

3. Screening File Delivery


Detailed instructions for delivering screening files will be provided once a film has been officially selected.

Selected participants must submit the final screening file within five (5) calendar days after receiving the official notification through the submission platform.

 

4. Press & Promotion


Once the Official Selection is announced, SHFF reserves the right to use excerpts from selected films and related promotional materials for publicity purposes.


The festival website and social media channels may feature images, trailers, and promotional assets. If promotional excerpts are not provided by the rights holder, the festival may extract brief segments from the film strictly for promotional use before, during, and after the event.

 

5. Screenings


The festival programming team will determine screening dates, times, and order. Screening schedules will be announced through SHFF’s official communication channels and platforms.

 

6. Acceptance of Regulations


By submitting a film to the 9th edition of SHFF, the rights holder or legal representative acknowledges and accepts these regulations.

The festival reserves the right to make final decisions regarding any matter not explicitly covered in these guidelines.

 

7. Code of Conduct


SHFF is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. The festival maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior before or during the event.


This policy applies to filmmakers, guests, jury members, and audiences. Violations may result in removal from the festival and disqualification of the submitted work.

 

8. Final Acceptance


Participation in SHFF implies full acceptance of these regulations by all participants.

The festival organization reserves the right to resolve, at its sole discretion, any situation not foreseen in these guidelines.
